- When you are making your appointment, try to get the earliest one on a weekday. The store will be quieter and you will have more attention from the staff.
- Keep the crowd you bring with you small. With a larger crowd you will have more conflicting opinions. No matter what other say though, your decision should be based on how you feel about the dress.
- Prepare your hair and makeup as you would get ready for a day out. No matter how beautiful the dress you will not fall in love with it if you look a mess.
- Bridal gowns tend to run 2 sizes larger than your normal dress size so don't panic when you see the size label.
- When you go to your first fitting after the dress is paid for, make sure you have the shoes you will be wearing to the wedding. this will ensure the right hem length for the dress.
- When taking the price into consideration don't forget that it does not include any alterations needed. Expect to pay up to $500 on alterations for the bustle, hem and any work on the bodice.
- Try to resist the urge to go on a crash diet a week before your wedding. You do not want to lose or gain any weight after your final fitting usually 2 weeks before the wedding.
- Be sure of your choice before you sign. You will have to put down a 50% deposit and you are signing a contract that hold you liable for full payment even if you change your mind.
The most important thing is to relax and enjoy the process! Your dress is all about you and who you are and that is what your future husband loves about you!
