My foray into the wedding industry this last year has defiantly had it's affect on my family. In a good way that is. My two youngest have gotten into the habit of asking me if I had any customers that day and how many. My youngest daughter who is 4 comes to the the shop with me every day. Being surrounded with wedding gowns and accessories has definitely influenced her pretend play. She has a dress up wedding gown that she frequently gets married in, and yesterday she had her Barbie doll wedding gowns hanging up around the posts of our stairs because it was her wedding shop. We have had many discussions about daddy being my husband. At one point she said I have to find a new husband because she want him to just be daddy. My son wants to dress up in a tux and help me at a wedding and my oldest daughter has had more than one favorite dress in the shop. Even though she insists she is NOT a girly girl. My husband is very supportive even though he is not sure what the big deal is and why all the money spent on weddings. I keep trying to convince him that we need to renew our vows because of all I know now and want to practice. So far the answer is no.
I continue to love what I do and look forward to many more years of brides, dresses and as many wedding television shows as I can watch. It will be interesting to see how this affects my family in other ways. Considering I am already planning my 2 daughters weddings at the ages of 4 and 11. We had better start a wedding fund immediately.
