I don't know about you, but I have been to weddings and received favors that have either ended up in the garage sale pile, given to my kids to play with, or just thrown in the trash. As terrible as that is, I would just have no use for them. The recommendation for favors is that it should be something edible or useful. If your favors are not in either category, you can probably forgo giving them and save some money for other areas of the wedding. I really like the idea of giving a donation to a charity that means something to you and your fiance. Then you can write a note to each of your guests to let them know what charity you have donated too.
