Trends anyone?

I have to be honest that I have not really thought much about trends before. I have never HAD to be in style, even though I am not "out" of style per say. So here I am a wedding planner and now trends in weddings are important to me. I am always buying the most recent Bridal Magazines and searching for new ideas and ways to do things. What was interesting to me was the article I saw about this years trends. It included not only what is in but what is out as well. Some of the things I agree with and others I am not sure matter as much.
Receiving lines are out which is great for me. I am not a big fan of greeting a bridal party who does not know me, whom I do not know, and do we really care?
The monogram appears to be out as well. I have never really given any thought to a monogram. I really cannot envision what our monogram would look like. With kids, monograms on the towels are most likely not going to happen.
Heavy rich food at the reception is out as well. I don't know about you but food is almost the best part of the reception. I don't generally dance as a rule, so enjoying the food and dessert is a highlight for me. I guess it doesn't matter if it is light or heavy. Just so it is something I like to eat.
Whatever trends are in or out, don't be afraid to make your wedding your own. It's about you and what your style is that makes each wedding unique.
