The Cake

For some reason lately I have really been in the mood for cake. Of course in my house there is a debate about what kind of frosting it should have. I love butter cream, but the rest of my family likes the less sweet whipped frosting. My attitude is the sweeter the better. If I wanted whipped cream I would just have an ice cream sundae, but what I really want is cake. I digress from what I really was trying to talk about. Cake is a pretty important part of a wedding no matter what kind of frosting you put on it. I was curious to know what the new trends are in cake design because I also love looking at them almost as much as eating them. :)
1. Sparkle- who doesn't love sparkle right? I am always amazed at the edible sparkle that can be put on.
2. Petals- anything flowers is always pretty and can be spun out of sugar.
3. Stencils- many designs and patterns can be used.
4. Calligraphy- I thought this was only for invitations but the curly swirls give an essence of old romance and can almost be a personal monogram in icing.
5. Simplicity- this refers to flavors such as a simple pound cake with butter cream frosting.
