I still remember that wedding gown shopping was one of the best parts of planning my wedding. I happened to walk into a small bridal shop and found the gown of my dreams in the right size! Of course this was in the early 90's and gowns have changed a lot since then. I have even changed and my dream gown now is different than it was back then. Of course that is probably because the styles change every year too.

So that leaves me to wonder what is the new style for 2010?

1. Touches of black- It can be done very elegantly though with a sash, beading or flowers.

2. Mini dresses- Most brides do not think of a mini dress as their dream wedding gown. If you do not want to wear it for your ceremony it can be a great style to wear at the reception to dance the night away.

3.Lace- I have not always been a big fan of lace, but I have seen some beautiful gowns with lace that are absolutely beautiful. The trend is to have lace all over the gown.

4. Colors- Lavender, pink, green and blue are the colors for this next season. I don't think you can go wrong but of course any color of purple is great for me. Second would have to be green.

5.One shoulder necklines- is the strapless gown being replaced? Probably not but the one shoulder gowns are popular this season. I have even seen this trend with celebrities on the red carpet.

6.Flowers- How could you ever go wrong with flowers on wedding gowns. They range from understated to prominent and are a great way to add embellishments.

7. Beading- A mainstay on gowns that I think will always be.

8. Feathers- Definitely a distinctive look. Accent with a few or many. It can even be carried into your centerpieces and decorations. A great way to personalize your wedding.

9. Metallic Fabric- Since I am all for the bling, what better way to add more.

10. Ruffles- I was not a ruffles fan until a few weeks ago a ruffled skirt dress came into my shop. It is now one of my top favorite gowns.
