Tipping Vendors Guide

Who to tip and how much can be confusing. Of course numbers vary according to where you live as does the amount of money you spend on your wedding. Here are some basic guidelines to follow.
These are vendors who should always get tipped:
* Limo or bus driver- 15% of the bill if not added on already
* Valet or parking attendants- $1 to $2 per car
* Waiters and Bartenders- 15% of your total catering bill
* Coat check attendants- 50cents to $1 per guest
These are vendors who sometimes get a tip:
*Wedding Planner- a personal gift or thank you note
*Hairstylist and Makeup artist- 15% to 20% of the total bill
*Officiant- for a judge it would be $50 to $75 and for clergy $75 to $100

Vendors that own their own business would not be tipped. Of course there may be others who helped out on the day of the wedding who should be given a thank you as well. How much and who you tip is ultimately up to you but I am sure that there are many people who help to make your day special.

  1. I don't get the idea that vendors that own their own business should not be tipped. Why? Self-employed vendors end up paying substantially MORE in taxes and than an employee would. Plus, we have many more expenses to take care of. Tips should be for ANYONE that deserves it, not just employees of vendors.
